About Cathy...
Born and raised in Newnan, Georgia, Cathy draws upon her simple and humble life growing up in the south on a farm to help weave a rich tapestry of colorful and poignant stories of her accomplishments, desires and endeavors. Her heartfelt and sometimes humorous words regarding her Christian beliefs and faith, peppered with a good dose of down-home southern humor, are evident as Cathy shares her life stories with others. Her inspirational parables use ordinary objects and events to reveal eternal truths, all the while inviting others to grow in the knowledge and spirituality of God. Cathy delves into her personal life with stories of her marriage to Dr. Jerry E. Phillips, an ordained Minister in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. They were happily married from 1986 until 1992 when Dr. Phillips died from complications related to a heart transplant he received in May of 1990. Since her husband's heart transplant and death, Cathy has been an advocate, frequent speaker and writer regarding the need for organ donation and transplantation. She found her writing to be therapeutic in dealing with becoming a widow at the young age of 35. Her words address grief and seek to encourage those facing the pain in loss of a loved one. (Education) Cathy earned a Double Major in Religion and Spanish, graduating Summa Cum Laude from LaGrange College in 1978. She was offered a Presidential Merit Award to attend Scarritt College in Nashville, TN, where she received a Master's Degree in Christian Education.
